Run of show
1. Arrival Free Play
5mSet up: Grid with balls scattered.
How to run it: Arrive and explore: push the ball with the outside of your foot — that pinky-toe side. Try going left and right with it.
- ›Let them discover the sensation — outside edge feels different.
- ›Model it briefly if needed: foot turned slightly inward to hit outside.

8mSet up: Mark a large circle of cones (10 yards diameter). Players on the outside.
How to run it: Everyone dribbles around the circle using only outside-of-foot touches to curve the ball. Go clockwise, then anticlockwise. Race around: how many laps in 60 seconds?
- ›Toes point slightly inward to engage the outside of the foot.
- ›Ball stays on the circle line — don't drift in or out.
- ›Both directions equally important.

12mSet up: Players each have a small cone. They place their cone anywhere in the grid and stand beside it.
How to run it: Players dribble to different cones using ONLY outside-of-foot touches. Each cone they reach, they 'paint' it by tapping it with their outside foot, then speed to the next. Count paints in 45 seconds, three rounds.
- ›Each touch with the outside edge — feel the push.
- ›Head up to find the next cone.
- ›Alternate feet on different cones.

15mSet up: Two 3v3 games. Goals scored from the left side of the pitch only count if using outside of right foot; goals from the right side must use outside of left foot.
How to run it: Play 3v3 with the outside-foot scoring zones. Normal goals count normally; outside-foot goals count double. Explain zones simply: left side = pinky of right foot; right side = pinky of left foot.
- ›Players naturally start trying outside-foot — celebrate any attempt.
- ›Don't force it — if they score normally, that's fine too.
- ›Coaches demonstrate the outside-foot path to goal.

5mSet up: Seated circle.
How to run it: Push the ball gently with outside of right foot across to a partner — they push it back with outside of left foot. Do 5 exchanges. Name the skill: 'Outside of the foot!'
- ›Reinforce both feet — not just the dominant one.
- ›Preview: 'Next time we combine inside AND outside — you'll be unstoppable!'
